Beginning Monday, Aug. 30, the City of Rockport will undertake a Sealcoat Project in an area encompassing part of Old Rockport and Downtown. The City contracts with the Aransas County Road and Bridge Department to perform the service annually on a rotating basis throughout the City.

The approximate boundaries are Linden Street on the north, Fuqua Street on the west, and Pearl St. on the east, and Concho Street on the south.

Door hangers will be distributed to homes and businesses a day in advance of work being performed. The project will include priming the streets with tack oil and seal coating, and will take approximately 2-1/2 weeks to complete.

Work will begin in the area around the Central Fire Station (Concho and Gagon streets), and work east.

In order to provide the most efficient service and to avoid any possible damage to vehicles, residents, businesses and their customers/contractors, should refrain from parking on streets between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., when work is in progress.

Additionally, use of irrigation systems should be limited to the hours of 7 p.m. to midnight in those areas.

Contact the Rockport Public Works Department at (361) 790-1160 for more information.
