Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) has recognized Keep Aransas County Beautiful (KACB) as a recipient of a 2019 Green Bag Grant. Through funding from HEB and Central Market, KTB provided 12 affiliate communities with a share of $25,000 to support educational and programmatic opportunities relating to sustainability, recycling, litter prevention, beautification and water conservation.
To assist with the implementation of its project, KACB received $1,500 to begin and support its proposed community project. KTB will also provide additional social media and marketing support. KACB will complete its project by July 2020.
KACB will use its allocated funds to purchase as many reusable grocery bags as possible for Aransas County residents to use for their shopping. As an added bonus the bags are made out of recycled plastic bottles.
KACB reports much of the trash it sees along area roads and in waterways is plastics. Its wish is the reusable bag program curbs plastic use and helps litter prevention.
KACB’s mission is to empower the residents, businesses and local governments to keep our coastal community clean and pristine, healthy and beautiful, through litter prevention, waste management, beautification and recycling by means of education and enforcement.
“We are thankful for sponsors who support our efforts to clean and beautify communities around Texas,” said KTB Executive Director Suzanne Kho. “We cannot wait to see the projects our affiliates are able to complete with help from our Green Bag Grants.”
