Going to temporary storage

The sculpture “Man’s Best Friend”, which was located on the former grounds of the Rockport Center for the Arts (RCA), was successfully removed from Aransas County Navigation District property Wednesday, March 11. It is being moved into temporary storage until the new RCA campus is built. Suzanna Moroles and Kurt Kangas of Moroles Art Co., a Rockport-based firm, moved the sculpture.  It is the work of Colorado-based artist, Michael Atkinson.  Evelyn Atkinson, to honor her husband, Atmar, donated it to the RCA’s permanent collection.  The bronze sculpture of a young man and two terriers faced the Texas Maritime Museum and Rockport Harbor.
