Fulton Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ricky McLester said his department will meet Thursday, Jan. 7 to determine the fate of Oysterfest in 2021.

“We will meet at that time to determine when or if we’ll have it,” said McLester.

Oysterfest was the only major festival held in Aransas County under normal conditions in 2020. It was held a few weeks before the county was shut down due to COVID-19.

McLester said several questions the FVFD has in regard to safely holding Oysterfest are out to state officials, as well as to Aransas County Judge C.H. “Burt” Mills.

Based of what they say, a decision will be made.

“We may have it on the normal weekend (March 4-7) with restrictions, we may postpone it, or we might have to cancel it,” said McLester.
