Aransas County commissioners, at their regular meeting Monday, Oct. 26, took action to ensure financial assistance from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the repair and reconstruction of the apron in front of the Aransas County Airport administration building.

Commissioners approved amended Resolution #R-40-2020-A, a document showing continued support for and acceptance of a Financial Assistance Grant from TxDOT with the updated costs for the repairs for damage caused by Hurricane Harvey.

Airport Manager Mike Geer said an engineer hired by the county estimated the cost at about $300,000, but the state came back with an estimate roughly half that amount.

“The state has now come back and estimated the work at $330,000,” said Geer. “(We will still be responsible for) the 1% match.”
