Rockport Police Officer B. Cantu observed a suspicious vehicle near a residence in the 200 block of N. Verne St. Thursday, Aug. 8. He began a check of the vehicle and eventually contacted two male subjects later identified as Jeremy McQueen, 38, and Joseph Bannister, 44. It was determined the subjects did not have permission to be at the residence and Bannister initially gave Cantu false identifying information.

Bannister was arrested for Failure to Identify as a Fugitive from Justice. Cantu located an illegal substance on Bannister while searching him incident to his arrest.

Due to the illegal substance being located, Cantu ordered McQueen out of the vehicle in order to conduct a probable cause search of the motor vehicle.

McQueen initially refused to exit the vehicle, then resisted being detained and attempted to flee the scene on foot. A short foot pursuit ensued, and Cantu was able to take McQueen into custody with the assistance of Officer C. Garrett.

After both males were in custody, the officers searched the vehicle locating methamphetamine, marijuana, synthetic marijuana, a firearm, a large quantity of U.S. currency, and paraphernalia related to the use and distribution of controlled substances.

Both males were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute.

The investigation is ongoing with further charges pending.
