Work on the $4 million Loop 1781 Road Improvements Project is underway. Portions of the roadway have been closed in order to place culverts under it, pictured, but Aransas County Engineer David Reid said that work has been completed. The work on the road itself is next. Reid said it has not yet been determined if the roadway will be closed during construction. He said it would take less time to complete the project if the contractor closes the road, but doing so will be an inconvenience for many motorists. A decision about road closures has not been made.
