The Fulton Town Council, at its regular meeting Monday, Nov. 1, approved with a 3-1 vote an interim construction plan submitted by Gary Sweetman for a Planned Unit Development (PUD), referenced as Seven Palms. Alderwoman Mary Ann Pahmiyer cast the lone dissenting vote.

The interim plan was approved with the provision the street will be widened from 16 feet to 21 feet.

“If the street isn’t 21 feet wide then I couldn’t support (the plan),” said Alderman J. Mark Wagnon. “I think that still leaves him plenty of room for utilities.”

Mayor Kelli Cole said Sweetman was seeking approval for his interim construction plan prior to purchasing the property, located at the intersection of Mesquite Street and Fulton Beach Road.

The PUD will include 25 homes, and the road will be a private one off Mesquite. Cole said the small PUD will also have a homeowners’ association.

Zoning is not an issue, according to Cole.
