On to state!

The Rockport-Fulton High School Pirate band recently participated in the University Interscholastic League Solo and Ensemble competition. The competition was done virtually through video recordings.

Eight RFHS students qualified for the State Solo and Ensemble competition.

Solo state qualifiers are Kaitlyn Carruth (Oboe), Daniel Garza (Trumpet), Darriem Nguyen (Timpani), and Parker Shearer (Tenor Sax). All four of them received a Superior rating on a Class 1 Solo and memorized it.

Advancing to state as a quartet are Benjamin Alfaro, Angela Delgado, Stormie Lewis, and Eleanor McEuen. The group performed as a Class 1 Horn Quartet and received a Superior rating.

Ethan Leftwich received a Superior rating on a Class 1 Solo using the alto sax.

Emilie Kelley received a Superior rating on a Class 2 Solo using the trumpet.

Soloists who received an Excellent rating are B. Alfaro (Horn), Evelyn Huerta (Oboe), Anthony Sanchez (Tuba), and Rafe Shleburne (Clarinet).

State qualifiers will compete in the event virtually.
