Two Aransas County residents are in the Aransas County Detention Center on murder charges, as well as lesser charges, following the shooting death of Billy Mullins, 28, of Aransas Pass Wednesday, March 1.
According to Aransas County Sheriff Bill Mills, Mullins was shot once and died at a residence located at 2211 Johnson Road.
Aransas County dispatchers received a call at 12:13 p.m. Wednesday reporting a gunshot. Amanda Davis, 30, the occupant of the home, made the call.
When deputies arrived at the scene they found Mullins unresponsive.
Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Diane Dupnik pronounced Mullins dead at the scene.
Upon questioning Davis, her explanation about what happened changed, and law enforcement took her into custody. She was charged with murder, as well as tampering with evidence with intent to impair.
“Her story wasn’t consistent with the crime scene,” said Mills.
“We called the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force to help locate others individuals who we believed might have been at the scene.
“Mullins and Davis had been running together, and then at some point Davis had a protective order placed on him.”
About 24 hours later John Bolt, 49, walked into the Public Safety Center.
“He immediately asked for a lawyer when we attempted to question him,” said Mills.
Mills noted Bolt had two warrants, was arrested, and then after questioning, was charged with murder, as well.
“He was at the scene either just before or when (the murder) happened,” said Mills.
Mills said other individuals who might have been at the house are being sought.
“This murder is still under investigation,” he said.
