An Aransas County grand jury convened recently, and issued eight indictments against as many individuals.

Those individuals, listed by name, charge, date of offense, and bond set, are as follows:

Florencio Cruz III - Possession of controlled substance Penalty Group 1, less than one gram, state jail felony; on or about Feb. 6, 2019 intentionally or knowingly possessed a controlled substance listed in Penalty Group 1, namely methamphetamine, less than one gram; $3,000 surety, plus capias.

Samantha A. Melendrez - Possession of controlled substance Penalty Group 2, less than one gram, state jail felony; on or about June 6, 2018 intentionally or knowingly possessed a controlled substance listed in Penalty Group 2, namely Tetrahydrocannabinol, less than one gram; $10,000 surety.

Joseph Allen Johnson - Possession of controlled substance Penalty Group 1, four grams or more but less than 200 grams, second degree felony; on or about Sept. 12, 2017 intentionally or knowingly possessed a controlled substance listed in Penalty Group 1, namely methamphetamine, four grams or more but less than 200 grams; $10,000 surety.

David Bruce Mabson – Possession of prohibited substance in a correctional facility, third degree felony; on or about April 3, 2019 intentionally and knowingly took a prohibited substance, namely methamphetamine, into the Aransas County Detention Center; previous bond in another case was used in this case, as well.

Frederick Lee Adams – Driving while intoxicated 3rd or more, third degree felony; on or about March 6, 2018 operated a motor vehicle in a public place while intoxicated. Convicted Nov. 14, 2001 for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and on April 30, 2009 convicted of operating motor vehicle while intoxicated. Enhancement, on July 28, 2014 convicted of felony offense of driving while intoxicated; $5,000 surety.

Vincent Matthew Moore – Burglary of habitation with intent to commit an assault, second degree felony; on or about April 21, 2018 intentionally or knowingly entered a habitation without the effective consent of the owner, and attempted to commit the offense of assault; $5,000 surety.

William Louis Reed – Sexual assault, second degree felony; on a day in July 2018 intentionally and knowingly caused the anus of complainant to contact or penetrate the anus of the complainant by the defendant’s sexual organ without the consent of the complainant and the complainant is a person with a mental disease or defect that makes complainant incapable of appraising the nature of the act or able to resist it; $20,000 surety, plus capias.

Bryce Allen Varner – Aggravated sexual assault, first degree felony; on or about May 27, 2018 intentionally or knowingly caused the penetration of the female sexual organ of victim, a child who was then and there younger than 14 years of age, by the defendant’s sexual organ; $5,000 surety.

Dalton Douglas Gregory – Count one, aggravated sexual assault of child, first degree felony. Count two, aggravated sexual assault of a child, first degree felony. Count three, possession of child pornography, third degree felony. Count one, on or about Sept. 2016 intentionally or knowingly caused the penetration of the female sexual organ of victim, a child who was then and there younger than 14 years of age, by the defendant’s digit. Count two, on or about Sept. 2016 intentionally or knowingly caused the penetration of the female sexual organ of victim, a child who was then and there younger than 14 years of age, by a brush. Count 3, on or about Sept. 2016 intentionally or knowingly possessed visual material the defendant knew visually depicted a child engaging in sexual conduct, to-wit: lewd exhibition of the female breast, and that child was younger than 18 years of age at the time the image was made; $50,000 surety.
