Tidal flooding

The waters of Little Bay have been encroaching on Broadway Street for more than a week, causing minor damage to edges of the road surface in several areas. Rockport Assistant Director of Public Utilities Art Smith said the city is keeping a close eye on the problem areas, but is waiting until the tidal flooding recedes before making repairs. He said the city will make emergency repairs, if needed, but minor repairs made under current water conditions turns the material into mush. When the tides recede, the city will apply a bull rock base in problem areas and cover that with a geo fabric. Then, caliche and a sand overlay will be applied.
