Longtime Aransas County EMS and Allegiance Ambulance paramedic Keith Hammes, 42, was killed in a single vehicle rollover Tuesday. Sept. 3 on the Highway 35 Bypass near Sixteenth Street.

Rockport Police Department Patrol Commander Larry Sinclair said Hammes was northbound on the highway shortly before 3 a.m. when for unknown reasons his vehicle left the roadway and rolled multiple times.

Hammes’ 2007 Ford F-150 came to rest right side up in the median, facing south. Sinclair said Hammes was in his seat belt. Pct. 1 Justice of Peace Diane Dupnik pronounced Hammes dead at the scene.

Hammes began his EMS career in 1998. He received multiple “Life Saving” awards during his career.

Sinclair said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

This is very tragic news for me as people are dying in the county because of accidents. I got reputation essay which is very impressive. Government should bring new traffic rules because old are not working with this heavy traffic. I think people should demand new traffic rules.
