The Fulton Town Council filled the vacant Place 3 council seat at its regular meeting Monday, June 15. The seat was vacated when Kelli Cole was elected mayor of the town.
Ironically, Cole broke the tie vote, which put Mary Ann Pahmiyer in the position. Pahmiyer is the wife of former Place 5 Alderman Larry Pahmiyer who did not seek reelection in May.
After meeting in executive session, and interviewing M. Pahmiyer and attorney J. Mark Wagnon for the position, Alderman Craig Bohn nominated Wagnon for the post. Then Alderwoman Beverly Garis nominated M. Pahmiyer.
Garis and Alderman Bob Loflin voted for M. Pahmiyer, and Bohn and Alderman Carl Biesenbach voted for Wagnon.
With the vote tied, Cole was called to make the decision with her vote.
After a moment of silence, and obviously struggling with the choice at hand, Cole said, “I’m going to go with my instincts and go with Mary Ann.”
M. Pahmiyer will be sworn in at the council’s next meeting.
