Aransas County Commissioners, at their regular meeting Monday, Dec. 27, authorized County staff to begin the process for road improvements and assessing the cost of construction to property owners adjacent to Hood Street, between Ninth Street and Twelfth Street, as provided in Chapter 253 of the Transportation Code.

The process includes publishing notice of the proposed improvements, holding a public hearing to consider the proposed improvements, distributing ballots to adjacent property owners to accept or reject proposed improvements, collecting ballots, tallying results, and declaring results at a future Commissioners Court meeting.

County Road and Bridge Engineer David Reid said a Hood Street property owner approached the County about building a road in the area already designated as a right-of-way.

There are 54 lots and 14 owners.

One property owner said 36 of the 54 lot owners have shown interest in building the road.
