LVFD buys new pumper
LVFD Chief Carl Stubbs has reason to be happy entering this year’s LaMardi Gras. His department accepted delivery of its new 2019 pumper Jan. 7.
“We had to do all the outfitting after it was delivered, but it’s ready to go,” said Stubbs.
No debt was incurred with the purchase of the new firefighting vehicle.
Stubbs said the LVFD now has two pumpers, a tanker, two brush trucks, a utility pickup, and two Polaris Rangers. It is selling its 27-year-old pumper, which was replaced by the new one.
“We really appreciate all the support we have received, from donations given through our letter drive and support through the City of Rockport’s utility surcharge (on natural gas accounts on this side of the bridge) to the recent $20,000 donation from Castaways,” said the chief.
“We can’t do our job without the public’s generous support.”
