Ernest Ray Longoria III, 44, was taken into custody Monday, Dec. 27 in connection to the death of Gerald Nauert. He was formally charged with murder Tuesday, Dec. 28. His bond was set at $200,000.
Longoria was arrested after information was obtained linking him to the death of Nauert, who was found Monday, Nov. 22 outside his North Moline residence, the victim of a single gunshot.
Aransas County Sheriff Bill Mills said the case remains under investigation.
Identity of body remains unknown
The Aransas County Sheriff Office (ACSO) continues to seek information about the identity of an unidentified male who was found partially buried Dec. 2 in a brushy area off the SH 35 Bypass near Murphy Road. The ACSO discovered the body after receiving a tip regarding the location of the remains.
Officials thought they had a lead on the identity of the body, but further investigation proved it was not the person of interest.
Aransas County Sheriff Bill Mills reported Wednesday, Dec. 29 the ACSO and Texas Rangers continue to seek the identity of the man.
Anyone with information about the identity of the deceased, or circumstances surrounding his death, is asked to contact the ACSO at 729-2222 or Crime Stoppers at 729-TIPS.
Fulton man missing since July 7
The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers are seeking help in an attempt to locate a missing person. Jesse Ellis Goodman, 41, (6’2”, 225 lbs., blond hair, blue eyes) of Fulton was last seen in the early morning of July 7, 2021 in Fulton.
