The Aransas County Independent School District (ACISD) experienced a tragic week of events in the loss of Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) teacher/coach Christopher Kuykendall and 2020 RFHS graduate Joel Gonzalez.

Kuykendall passed away Friday, June 12 after suffering a heart attack in Alice, TX. He had only been employed by the ACISD for one year, but became quickly well known amongst students and faculty for his roles as an assistant football, basketball, and track coach.

Kuykendall is survived by his wife, Cassie Kuykendall; and four children, Tyler, Josh, Carlee, and Landry.

Gonzalez took his own life Wednesday, June 17 by self-inflicted gunshot wound in a wooded area near the Tule Creek Hike and Bike Trail. He was a 2020 RFHS graduate.
