Aransas County commissioners, after meeting in executive session at their Monday, Aug. 5 meeting, approved three agenda items related to animal control. Each of the items was approved with a 4-1 vote. Commissioner Wendy Laubach cast the lone dissenting vote each time.
After returning to open session, Laubach made a motion to table all three items, but her motion died for lack of a second.
The motion was then made and seconded to approve the proposed new job description of Animal Control Officer (ACO) Shelter Volunteer Coordinator for Animal Control. There are no changes from current Group and Step (pay grade).
The vote was the same on the two remaining agenda items, including the proposed new position and job description for Director of Animal Control at Pay Group 18, which will cost the county an additional estimated $12,541 in animal control’s 2019 budget (available in the 2019 budgeted payroll reserve fund), and the proposed revised job descriptions for Animal Control Officer and Kennel Technician (no new money).
