The Aransas County Independent School District (ACISD) Board of Trustees, at a special meeting Thursday, Aug. 27, chose Walsh Gallegos to lead its superintendent search.
The decision to choose Walsh Gallegos was unanimous among present board members. Cindy Robbins was not present for the meeting.
The Walsh Gallegos search firm will assist the ACISD in finding a new superintendent to replace outgoing ACISD Superintendent Joseph Patek, who will retire at the end of his contract in June 2021.
The board met with and interviewed two search firms, Walsh Gallegos, and Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services.
Walsh Gallegos was represented by shareholder Paige Kyle. TASB Executive Search Services was represented by field service consultant Craig Stockstill.
After hearing both pitches, the board chose Walsh Gallegos unanimously.
The board was intrigued by Walsh Gallegos for its accessibility and opted to hire the firm on a retainer program.
The program allows the ACISD board to seek legal advice regarding legal issues without having to consult with the school district’s attorney.
Kyle will request the services of a longtime former Texas superintendent, Gary Patterson, to be an education consultant with the ACISD in its search.
Patterson will meet with ACISD board members at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2 during a special board meeting in the Rockport-Fulton High School Commons area to assess the next steps in the superintendent search process.
