A Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) contractor began work Monday, Oct. 26, on a safety project on FM 1069, from SH 188 to FM 1781 west of Rockport.

The project consists of safety treating fixed objects and roadway widening of curves in select areas by adding shoulders to improve safety.

The project will also re-grade ditch flow lines and clean existing culverts.

Work is scheduled to begin at FM 1781 and move south. The project is expected to take about six months to complete and will require daytime lane closures assisted by a pilot vehicle.

Motorists are advised to slow down in the work zone, expect delays, and use alternate routes if possible.
