Two men were killed in a head on collision at about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19 when their pickups collided on Highway 35, about four miles north of Holiday Beach, just north of the Cavasso Creek bridge.
According to Department of Public Safety Sergeant Nathan Brandley, the preliminary investigation has revealed Daniel Aaron Olvera, 27, of Corpus Christi, the driver of a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado, was northbound on the highway and attempted to pass another vehicle.
While in the southbound lane, the Silverado hit a southbound 2015 Ford F-250 driven by Glen Franklin Prince, 62, of Port Lavaca.
Brandley said witnesses reported Prince attempted to take evasive action and steered to the right before being struck.
There were no additional passengers in the vehicles.
Olvera and Prince were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. DPS troopers are further investigating the fatal crash.
