Rockport, Texas is one of the winners in the Best Coastal Small Town category in 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest, sponsored by USA TODAY.

Rockport came in at the #4 spot in the nation. Each nominee had a population of fewer than 25,000 people. The winners offer un-crowded and affordable attractions and accommodations. Nominees for all categories are chosen by a panel of relevant experts which include a combination of editors from USA TODAY; editors from 10Best.com; and relevant expert contributors. All voting is digital and the 10Best Readers’ Choice Award contest is accessible on the 10Best.com website.

“We are very happy to be chosen as number four in this category”, said Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce (RFCC) Vice President of Marketing and Promotion Sandy Jumper. Jumper, who spearheaded the voting process in the community and across the state, said, “Though we were hoping for the top spot, we are still excited to be in the top five of the nation. It was through the consistent support of our visitors, our community, the Coastal Bend, and the State of Texas, we received this honor. This is the fourth time we have made the 10Best List for Best Coastal Small Town in the U.S. We were chosen in the Top 5 in 2015, 2016, 2019, and now 2020.”

RFCC President/CEO Diane Probst is thrilled with the announcement, along with the number of accolades the area has recently received.

“These awards and accolades prove tourism is one of the driving factors for the local economy,” said Probst.

Other accolades received from USA Today’s 10Best in the Rockport-Fulton area include Rockport Beach, receiving #1 Beach in Texas in 2018, and Aransas National Wildlife Refuge receiving awards for Best Birding site and Best National Wildlife Refuge in recent years.
