Rylie Thompson and Javier Sandoval were married via Skype Monday, June 15

COVID-19 might have put a halt to their church wedding plans, but it didn’t put an end to their wedding.

Aransas County Judge C.H. “Burt” Mills married recent Rockport-Fulton High School graduates Rylie Thompson (2020) and Javier Sandoval (2018) Monday, June 15 in front of family at the Aransas County courtroom – via Skype.

Sandoval is stuck in quarantine at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX. He was to graduate from technical training the next day.

The newlyweds were planning a wedding in the Catholic Church after Sandoval completed Basic Training, but those plans were put on hold due to COVID-19 and the lockdown of military bases.

Sandoval was sent straight to technical training after basic, and after he graduates, will be stationed in Germany.

The couple plans to have a formal church wedding when they are able to do so.

After the civil ceremony in the courtroom, the new bride said, “That was weird being married via Skype.”

Her husband agreed, noting, “It was a little awkward.”
