The aggregate amount of sales tax rebate revenue received by the three local entities, which collect the tax, was up 17.36% this month, and is up 15.36% through the first nine months of 2021.
Aransas County received 17.85% more and 18.39% more from its half-cent sales tax rebate and half-cent special use sales tax rebate, respectively. The City of Rockport received 16.18% more. The Town of Fulton received 19.66% more.
Sales tax rebate revenue reflected in this month’s checks is based on sales made in July by businesses that report tax monthly.
The Town of Fulton received a check for $27,792.38 this month, compared to $23,225.06 in September 2020. The town has collected $198,744.42 (+22.3%) year to date, compared to $162,501.15 for the same period last year.
The City of Rockport received $289,675.49 this month, compared to $249,327.97 in September 2020. The City has collected $2,427,302.25 (+14.4%) year to date, compared to $2,121,703.14 for the same period last year.
Aransas County received $183,800.49 this month, compared to $155,960.01 in September 2020. Year to date, the county has received $1,532,979.02 (+16.43%), compared to $1,316,553.39 for the same period last year.
The county also received a check for $183,908.14 from its half-cent special use sales tax, compared to $155,340.01 in September 2020. The county has received $1,517,523.62 (+14.95%) year to date, compared to $1,320,078.30 through September last year.
Money received via the special use sales tax is used to fund health-related expenses such as indigent health care and mosquito control.
Texas cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts received $925.1 million in sales tax allocations, up 20.9%, compared with September 2020.
The comptroller sent $595.7 million in sales tax to Texas cities, up 20.3%, compared to September 2020 payments.
Texas counties received sales tax payments of $53.7 million, up 16.5%, compared to September 2020 payments.
Special purpose taxing districts received sales tax payments of $76.6 million, up 27.5%, compared to September 2020 payments.
