An Aransas County grand jury convened recently, and issued three indictments against three individuals.

Those individuals, listed by name, charge, date of offense, and bond set (if provided on indictment), are as follows:

Terrance Jason Staley – Criminal mischief $2,500 to $30,000, state jail felony; on or about Nov. 17, 2018 intentionally or knowingly damaged or destroyed tangible property, to wit: a pick up truck, by striking the vehicle with a flashlight, without the effective consent of the owner, and caused pecuniary loss of $2,500 or more, but less than $30,000 to the owner; $1,500 surety.

Christopher Joseph Downum – Assault public servant, third degree felony; on or about a day between Aug. 17, 2019 intentionally, knowingly or recklessly caused bodily injury to the complainant, a person the defendant knew was a public servant, namely a peace officer, and complainant was lawfully discharging an official duty, namely investigating a criminal trespass, by striking complainant with defendant’s hands, or by grabbing complainant with the defendant’s hands; $50,000 surety.

John Bing Southard – Count one, sexual assault of a child, second degree felony. Count two, sexual assault of a child, second degree felony. Count one, on or about June 15, 2016 through June 15, 2017, did then and there intentionally and knowingly, caused the sexual organ of complainant, a child who was then and there younger than 17 years of age, to make contact with the defendant’s mouth. Count two, on or about June 15, 2016 through June 15, 2017, did then and there intentionally and knowingly, caused the anus of the complainant, a child who was then and there younger than 17 years of age, to make contact with the defendant’s sexual organ; $50,000 surety.
