The death of Jana Duty Hunsicker, 54, was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the autopsy report from the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s office.
The autopsy report showed a low level of Alprazolam in her blood, and a blood/alcohol level of .186.
Hunsicker’s body was discovered between an Oak Bay Condominium unit and the golf course in Rockport Country Club shortly after 8 a.m. April 24.
Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Diana McGinnis received the autopsy report last week.
Hunsicker was a former Williamson County district attorney. She served two terms as county attorney before defeating the longtime incumbent to become district attorney in 2013. She was defeated in the 2016 Republican primary by the current district attorney.
