Aransas County Independent School District (ACISD) Place 7 Trustee Jack Wright resigned effective Wednesday, Jan. 15 when he gave his letter of resignation to ACISD Superintendent Joseph Patek. The ACISD board of trustees accepted Wright’s resignation at its monthly board meeting Thursday, Jan. 23.

At that same meeting the board called a special election for May 2, coinciding with the regular May 2 election, to fill Wright’s position.

“It has been an honor and a privilege for me to serve the students, faculty and staff of the ACISD,” wrote Wright in his resignation letter. “But the time has come for me to step aside and let a younger generation take the reins.

“There are many District accomplishments of which I am proud, but none more important than providing a meaningful pay raise to employees this year. This letter is my resignation, effective immediately.”

Wright began his service on the board of trustees in May 2001.

Thursday afternoon, prior to the board meeting, Wright said, “I feel like I’ve accomplished everything I could.”

Board President Ray Garza, during his comments at the end of Thursday night’s meeting, thanked Wright for his 19 years of service.
