An Aransas County grand jury convened recently, and issued 15 indictments against as many individuals.

Those individuals, listed by name, charge, date of offense, and bond set (if provided on indictment), are as follows:

Deanna Brown Mitchell – Possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility, third degree felony; on or about Jan. 20, 2019 intentionally or knowingly took a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, into the Aransas County Detention Center; $3,000 surety.

Valerie Elizabeth Jolin - Possession of controlled substance Penalty Group 1, less than one gram, state jail felony; on or about Feb. 24, 2019 intentionally or knowingly possessed a controlled substance listed in Penalty Group 1, namely methamphetamine, less than one gram; $2,000 personal recognizance.

Curtis Gonzales - Possession of controlled substance Penalty Group 1, less than one gram, state jail felony; on or about Feb. 24, 2019 intentionally or knowingly possessed a controlled substance listed in Penalty Group 1, namely methamphetamine, less than one gram; $7,500 personal recognizance.

Daniel Antonio Garcia - Possession of controlled substance Penalty Group 1, less than one gram, state jail felony; on or about May 9, 2019 intentionally or knowingly possessed a controlled substance listed in Penalty Group 1, namely methamphetamine, less than one gram; $10,000 surety.

Alex Neal Lewis - Possession of controlled substance Penalty Group 1, less than one gram, state jail felony; on or about May 3, 2019 intentionally or knowingly possessed a controlled substance listed in Penalty Group 1, namely methamphetamine, less than one gram; $2,000 surety.

Dakota Saunders - Possession of controlled substance Penalty Group 2, one gram or more, but less than four grams, third degree felony; on or about Nov. 28, 2018 intentionally or knowingly possessed a controlled substance listed in Penalty Group 2, namely Tetrahydrocannabinol, one gram or more, but less than four grams; $1,500 personal recognizance.

James Lasiter - Possession of controlled substance Penalty Group 2, one gram or more, but less than four grams, third degree felony; on or about Nov. 28, 2018 intentionally or knowingly possessed a controlled substance listed in Penalty Group 2, namely Tetrahydrocannabinol, one gram or more, but less than four grams; $2,000 surety.

Audreyana Garcia - Possession of controlled substance Penalty Group 2, one gram or more, but less than four grams, third degree felony; on or about Nov. 28, 2018 intentionally or knowingly possessed a controlled substance listed in Penalty Group 2, namely Tetrahydrocannabinol, one gram or more, but less than four grams; $2,000 surety.

Kristopher Welder - Possession of controlled substance Penalty Group 2, one gram or more, but less than four grams, state jail felony; on or about Nov. 28, 2018 intentionally or knowingly possessed a controlled substance listed in Penalty Group 2, namely Tetrahydrocannabinol, one gram or more, but less than four grams; $2,000 surety.

Jose Guadalupe Rodriguez – Evading arrest with motor vehicle, third degree felony; on or about July 10, 2019, while using a vehicle, intentionally fled from Craig Gibson or Eric Cargal, a person the defendant knew was a peace officer who was attempting lawfully to arrest or detain the defendant; $2,500 personal recognizance.

Mario Mateo Garcia – Theft of property, less than $2,500 with two or more previous convictions, state jail felony; on or about Aug. 25, 2106 unlawfully appropriated, to wit: vacuums of the value less than $2,5000 from complainant, the owner thereof, without the effective consent of the owner, with intent to deprive owner of the property. Convicted Jan. 8, 2008 for offense of theft and convicted Jan. 14, 2013 for offense of theft of property; $5,000 surety.

Steven Rey Montez – Unlawful possession of firearm by felon, third degree felony; on or about May 17, 2019, having been convicted of the felony offense of possession of a controlled substance Penalty Group 1, less than one gram on March 7, 2016, intentionally or knowingly possessed a firearm before the fifth anniversary of the defendant’s release from confinement following conviction of the felony; $3,000 surety.

Gabriel Ortega – Aggravated assault serious bodily injury, second degree felony; on or about Oct. 20, 2019 knowingly or recklessly caused bodily injury to complainant by striking complainant with defendant’s hands causing serious bodily injury to complainant; $1,500 personal recognizance.

Trenton Garcia – Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second degree felony; on or about March 13, 2019 knowingly or recklessly threatened serious bodily injury or death to complainant by threatening to kill the complainant, the defendant did then and there use or exhibit a deadly weapon, to wit: a knife, during the commission of the threat; $25,000 personal recognizance.

Jonathan Edward Wells – Aggravated assault impede breath, third degree felony; on or about Feb. 28, 2019 intentionally, knowingly and/or recklessly caused bodily injury to complainant, a person whom with the defendant had a dating relationship, by striking complainant with defendant’s hands or by grabbing complainant with defendant’s hands and the defendant did impeded the normal breathing or circulation of the blood of complainant by applying pressure to the throat or neck of the complainant with defendant’s hands; $10,000 surety.
