The Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce (RFCC) Bay Blazers and staff were joined by guests recently to celebrate a ribbon cutting for the Veterans Memorial Park Pavilion near Rockport Harbor.
LAC XXIII recognized this as a project that could not only beautify the downtown area, but also serve a much needed purpose for anyone in the community.
Each year the current Leadership Aransas County Class seeks funds for a worthy project. The objective is to create something the community can enjoy for many years. This class was set on resurrecting the old barbecue pit area that was so popular until the late 80’s, where it had to be torn down. They raised most of their funds through a raffle of two sides of grass fed beef.
Funds for this project were raised through a fish fry fundraiser held at The Sugar Shack in May, along with a Beef Raffle, which raffled off two sides of grass fed beef donated by an anonymous donor. LAC XXIII would like to thank all who helped make this project become reality; Builders First Source, International Forest Products, Boise Cascade, Lynn Engineering for donating the plans, Anderson Construction for the labor, and our community members who helped make this possible.
The Veterans Memorial Park Pavilion will be available free of charge, for anyone in the community to reserve and use for events, fundraisers, family gatherings, and so much more. While it is free to use, the Aransas County Navigation District will be keeping a calendar for bookings.
