Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Board Members, Bay Blazers, and staff were joined by guests recently to celebrate a ribbon cutting for Kontiki Beach Resort.
Kontiki Beach Resort has opened for business again following the restoration and reconstruction after the destruction of Hurricane Harvey.
The three story building, located at 2290 N. Fulton Beach Rd, has 41 one bedroom condominiums, all with water view patios and decks.
The new onsite rental company is Five Star Vacation Rentals, Inc., with Penny Neff as owner and president. Five Star was off site for five years booking Kontiki and Bayfront condos along with individual homes.
“We owe our opening in October 2018, to our Home Owner’s Association (HOA) President and Board of Directors. The president of the HOA, Kerry Urbanowicz, was here on site immediately after the storm with our contractors and insurance adjusters and were able to get construction started ASAP,” said Neff.
Not only did the main building and condos experience reconstruction, but in February, the swimming pool was drained and new plaster was applied to the entire pool. Five of the nine boat slips have been rebuilt. Both fishing piers were restored by October 2018.
Kontiki serves their guests and homeowners, with a boat ramp, two fishing piers and ample boat slips.
Kontiki was originally built as two sections, Phase one and Phase two. Phase one is now called Bayfront Condominiums at Kontiki and are still under construction with a March or April anticipated date for the restoration. Once the condos are returned back to the owners, they will have time to finish and decorate, with the condos available for rent soon after. Neff say’s as soon as the condos are ready to book, they will be loaded on the Kontiki Beach Resorts website and an announcement will be emailed to their guest list of over 7,000 names and companies with one of the most current mailing lists in the area.
Kontiki has dedicated time and money marketing the resort to keep guests up to date on when they can book.
Neff say’s a full time Communications Director was hired to keep guests and owners up to date on all social media platforms. They will take pictures and have virtual video tours of every condo once it is ready to book.
They also use a state of the art world wide booking engine, LiveRez, so that guests can make reservations online at any time.
“We are performance driven in revenue and guest service.,” said Neff. “LiveRez gives us the support tools to do that.”
The units are also linked to Airbnb from its LiveRez platform. Airbnb adds the incremental factor.
Kontiki opened October 1, 2018 and immediately welcomed arriving guests. Winter Texans were able to book for the 2018 and 2019 season. Neff say’s 80 percent of its winter business has been the return of its Winter Texans. They also have a strong corporate base of business and the remaining market mix is its leisure business. As the Winter Texans check out and the weather warms up, its leisure business grows in momentum. The resort already has a strong pre-booking pace for March and Spring break.
