The Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce (RFCC) recognized The Dish House as its December Business of the Month Thursday, Dec. 2.

Carman Michael established The Dish House in July 2014, selling Fiesta ware at various Market Days while working another full time job. The vision from the start was to open a brick and mortar store. Moving to Rockport in the summer of 2017, Hurricane Harvey slowed things down but didn’t stop them. In December 2019, shortly after joining the Chamber of Commerce, vision became reality in their current downtown location.

The Dish House has participated in Leadership Aransas County, Business Builders Committee, Christmas on the Beach, Changing of the Gavel Banquet, Sea-A-Bration, Shop Small Saturday, the Christmas Luncheon and other Lunch and Learn programs. They have donated product to many chamber functions as well as fundraisers for the Lamar Volunteer Fire Department, Aransas County Livestock Booster Club, Realtor Scholarship Fund, Rockport Little Theatre, Aransas County Women’s Lions Club, Another Chance Rescue, HummerBird Festival, and ABC Learning.

They expect to grow beyond four employees in the near future and expand their line of products while assuring customer confidence in the quality and safety of the lead-free tableware offerings.

“Having a business makes me feel a deeper connection to the community, we are a part of something larger than ourselves,” said Michael.
