The buzz at the recent Lemonade Day Kickoff registration event Tuesday, March 3 was filled with excitement. Parents and students who were interested in having a lemonade stand Saturday, April 25 were presented with backpacks filled with entrepreneurial information.
Coordinating the effort is Leadership Aransas County (LAC) Alumni along with Small Business Council (Business Builders). Alumni Chairman Andrea Hattman explained how the process of building their stand, using their assistance workbooks, and how maps of all the stand locations will be generated so the public knows where to find each stand.
“This is a great activity where students can learn and take pride in developing their own business,” said Hattman.
As participants arrived at the Rockport-Fulton High School Commons for the event, they were greeted by lemon mascots “Squeezy” and “Squirt.” Rockport Mayor Pat Rios also made a surprise appearance in support of the event. Guests enjoyed hot dogs, chips, and lemonade provided by the LAC Alumni while learning about the various contests pertaining to Lemonade Day.
On Saturday, April 25, the various stands will be judged on best tasting lemonade and best decorated stand. Winners of the event will have the opportunity to compete nationally.
Registration is still available through Friday, March 27 for all students, kindergarten through high school.
