The Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce (RFCC) recognized Attitudes & Latitudes as its December Business of the Month Thursday, Dec. 3.

Owned by Jacqueline McCrea, originally from Aberdeen, Scotland, moved to Houston in 1996 with her husband, Billy and two sons, Jonathan and Andrew. Her husband worked for an American company in Scotland and needed him in Texas to sort out their accounts department. They were invited to Rockport by her husband’s boss for a fishing weekend. Jacqueline fell in love with Rockport. Shortly after, her family bought a condo and spent every weekend in town. In 2009, Jacqueline and her family became citizens of the United States, which they are very proud of.

In 2012, they bought a house in Rockport and Jacqueline went into the retail business with a partner who had owned the business for many years. It was all very new to her, as all of her working life she had been a nurse in the UK, a volunteer EMTI in Jersey Village and a Clinical assistant in a High School.

“With the aftermath of Harvey, I was now faced with a decision to continue by myself. My business partner could not invest back into the business,” said McCrea. “With the great support of my husband and family, that is what I have done, and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made! I have been able to find my true place in Rockport.”

Through the encouragement of her friends, she joined the Business Builders Committee of the Chamber. She also is involved with the Downtown Merchants group, Humane Society, and is committed to do her part in working hard on making the community in Rockport be a place in which tourists want to come back to year-after-year because they know they will be welcomed and appreciated when they do.
