The Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce (RFCC) Bay Blazers and staff were joined by guests recently to celebrate a ribbon cutting for Heartworm Hotel, located near the Animal Control Office at 872 Airport Road.
Aransas County Leadership Class (LAC) XXIV donated as a gift, with no additional restrictions or obligations, a new building that would be free standing with interior kennels, a hard surface floor, and climate controlled where animals can be cared for to Another Chance RFT.
Leadership Aransas County is a program sponsored by the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, which identifies and cultivates individuals with the interest and potential to serve in the community. Each class is required to complete a class project. This class project identifies an area or need that can benefit the community.
The objective of Leadership Aransas County Class XXIV was to work with Another Chance RFT, a group of volunteers assisting Aransas County Animal Control in Rockport-Fulton. Their mission is to relocate dogs who are facing euthanasia by providing medical assessment and care, foster care and transporting them to dog rescues. Another Chance RFT was in need of a new building for temporary housing for some of the rescued dogs in need of medical or heartworm treatment as they await their new home. The need was identified by the LAC XXIV class and as a class held various fundraising events to provide a way to support this non-profit organization.
