The City of Rockport issued 73 building permits in March with a total valuation of $7,847,557. That compares to $14,103,781.24 in March 2018, and $2,036,282.61 in March 2017.

Fifteen of the permits were for single-family homes valued at $3,377,672 ($225,178 average).

One of the permits was for a commercial building valued at $730,000.

Thirty-five permits for alterations and additions to dwellings totaled $2,375,000 in valuation ($67,857 average).

Four permits for alterations and additions to commercial buildings totaled $1,093,000 in valuation ($273,250 average).

The remaining $271,885 in valuation came from 18 permits for relocation and demolish, swimming pools, signs, and “other/re-roof.”

Total valuation of permits issued for single-family dwellings in 2018 was $36,269,047. Through the first three months (25 percent of the year) of 2019 the valuation of permits issued for single-family dwellings stands at $9,575,422.20 (26.41 percent of the entire 2018 value).

Total valuation of permits issued for commercial buildings in 2018 was $17,486,094.39. Through the first three months (25 percent of the year) of 2019 the valuation of permits issued for commercial buildings stands at $1,391,000 (7.96 percent of the entire 2018 value).

Total valuation of permits issued for multi-family construction in 2018 was $1,251,154.83. Through the first three months of 2019 there have been no permits issued for multi-family construction.

Inspections

The City’s building department conducted 320 inspections in March 2019. That compares to 329 inspections last month and 310 in March 2018.

Calendar year to date the department has conducted 1,017 inspections, for an average of 339 inspections per month.
