Sacred Heart Student, Chase Robert Simpson, shown with Msgr. Louis F. Kihneman III, recently earned the Parvuli Dei (Children of God) medal for Cub Scouts. To receive this distinction, Simpson, with the guidance of Sister Maria Elizabeth Brehony, Religious Education Director Gloria Scott, and his parents, completed studies over five religious topics concerning the Blessed Trinity and the Church. He then filed an application which was approved by the Catholic Chaplain at Boy Scout of America Headquarters.
Simpson was presented this prestigious honor by Kihneman during the first Friday school Mass and was one of only 41 boys in the Diocese of Corpus Christi to earn the medal. Simpson has been enrolled at SHS since he was three years old and is now in fourth grade. His parents are parishioners, Kurt and Dana Simpson.
