Local law enforcement officials arrested two men and seized more than $5,000 cash as well as crack, heroin, and marijuana after the execution of a warrant Tuesday, morning Feb. 17 at about 10 a.m.
Thomas Avery Simmons of Rockport and Jesse Jacob Soto of Aransas Pass were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, four grams or more, but less than 200.
Members of the Rockport Police Department’s Tactical Unit with assistance from other RPD officers as well as Aransas County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed the warrant at 408 Broadway St. in Fulton. The warrant was signed by Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams.
Sgt. Larry Sinclair explained concerns had been expressed regarding the amount of traffic in and out of the area and that residence.
When officers executed the warrant, neither Simmons nor Soto was at the home at the time. Each were arrested at separate locations shortly thereafter.
In the residence, officers seized about 18 grams of crack, and 10 or more grams of heroin as well as a useable quantity of marijuana.
Sinclair said the joint operation involved many officers from both departments and was completed without incident.
A $10,000 bond was assessed on each.
Simmons and Soto both posted bond Wednesday, Feb. 18 and were released.
