The seventh anuual Rockport Clay Expo will be held Feb. 7-8, and will kick off with the Bountiful Bowl Pottery Fair Saturday, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Rockport-Fulton High School commons.

More than 30 potters will exhibit and sell their creations. Tickets are $4 and are available at the door.

Spearheaded by the Aransas County Council on Aging and the Rockport Center for the Arts, the Clay Expo includes exhibitions, sales and demonstrations from some of Texas' most respected artists. The two-day event benefits the Council on Aging's Meals on Wheels program, which provides delivery of nutritious meals to home-bound senior citizens.

During the expo, visitors may visit with the potters about their pieces and view them at work during one of the hourly demonstrations. Each artist has donated a piece for a silent auction and door prizes will be awarded throughout the day.

On Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., experience the art of Raku at Braxton's in downtown Rockport. Professional potters will be on hand to demonstrate and assist participants in creating and crafting their own piece of Raku, which they can take home as a personal memento. A $5 donation supports Meals on Wheels.

As part of the celebration, the Rockport Center for the Arts will offer a special exhibition and sale featuring the works of Jason Hooper in the Main Gallery. An opening reception, which is free to the public, will be held Saturday, Feb. 7 from 5 until 7 p.m. On Sunday, Feb. 8, Potters Jason Hooper and Bridget Hauser will demonstrate throwing techniques at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Additionally, the galleries in Rockport's Downtown Heritage District will be holding special events and exhibitions on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
