The body of Jamie Wagner Sengvanhpheng, 21, a 2007 Rockport-Fulton High School graduate, washed ashore about 9 a.m. Saturday just two miles northeast of where his car plunged into Copano Bay the day after Christmas.
The family of Pfc. Sengvanpheng was notified and identified the body, Aransas County Sheriff Bill Mills said.
Police were alerted of the soldier's body washing ashore at Newcomb Bend while working with a barge crew to maneuver a crane into place to hoist Sengvanpheng's 2004 Acura from 16 feet of water.
More details will be in the Midweek edition of The Rockport Pilot.
