Obituaries for December 10, 2008
Morgan Russel Parker, 63, passed away, Sunday, December 7, 2008 in a Corpus Christi hospital. He was born on September 22, 1945 to Hermon Elza and Kathrine E. Parker in Corpus Christi.
He grew up in Ingleside and received his Associate Degree from Del Mar Tech in Corpus Christi. He was a retired Electrical Supervisor with Dupont. He was a member and past Master of Masonic Lodge #323 in Rockport. Morgan and Irma enjoyed many special times traveling in their motor home. He was a very talented artist and singer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Hermon Elza Parker, Jr, and one nephew, Russel Parker. He is survived by his wife, Irma Parker of Rockport; son, Daniel (Lisa) Luera of Frisco; three daughters, Tammie (Eddie) Bolick of Baytown, Marcia Luera of San Antonio and MacKenzie (Keith) Gard of Corpus Christi; one brother, Franklin “Hanke” (Jan) Parker of Aransas Pass; brother-in-law, Arnold (Dianne) Govella of Port Aransas; three sisters, Kathrine Estelle (Charles) Wilson of Bellville, Betty Jo (James) Leach of Pearland, and Peggy Jean Barta of Rockport; sister-in-law, Priscilla Woods of Houston; two grandchildren and one granddaughter on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Masonic Service will be held at 2:00 p.m, Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home Chapel, 2003 West Wheeler, Aransas Pass, Texas.
On December 7, 2008, Teresa Ann Solis, 48, left this earth to be with her angels. She lost her battle with a disease she could not overcome. She is now an angel and she will look over all that she loved. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to dance and live life to the fullest. She was born in Aransas Pass and was a long time resident of Rockport before moving to Lake Jackson.
She is survived by her husband, Juan Villar of Freeport; son, Edward Raul Garcia of Freeport; two daughters, Mary Michelle (Orran Daniel) Diaz of Freeport and Sherrie Solis of Lake Jackson; three brothers, Raul Solis of Rockport, Oscar Rodriguez of San Benito and Mark Martinez of Freeport; three sisters, Selina Guerrero of Rockport; Cynthia Pond of Redlands, CA and Sonia Rodriguez of Kerman, CS and three grandchildren, Marissa Cruz of Lake Jackson, Lola Olivia Diaz and Camilla Carolina Diaz, both of Freeport.
Visitation was held from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with rosary recited at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment to follow at Rockport Cemetery.
Elizabeth Marie Van Horn, 69, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2008. She was born April 20, 1939 in Dallas. She had been a Rockport resident for seven years.
She is survived by two sons, John Michael (Mary) Purifoy of Albuquerque, NM, and Kenneth Wayne (Lauretta) Purifoy of Rockport; one grandson; two step grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held.
Doris Wharton, 89, of Duncan, OK, passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, in Wilkins Nursing Center.
Doris was born February 19, 1919 in Valiant, OK to Thomas and Nancy “Ross” Reynolds. She was a member of the Methodist Church and had retired from Halliburton where she worked as a draftsman.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nancy “Ross” Reynolds; her husband Lee Wharton; three sisters, Rennie Gardner, Clara Barton Vaught and Ruth Reynolds; and one brother, T.C. Reynolds.
She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Morris of Alaska, Ozello Oliver of Corpus Christi, TX, Rennie (Jack) Sanner of Duncan, OK, and Beverly (Kenneth) Abney of Georgia; sisters, Norma Sue Singleton of Duncan, OK and Mozelle Johannesen of California; eight grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren,
Memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
