Woman's Club of Aransas County celebrates 60th anniversary Nov. 9
In honor and recognition of the Woman's Club of Aransas County celebrating its 60th anniversary, Sunday, Nov. 9 has been declared Woman's Club Aransas County Day in the City of Rockport.
On that day, the Woman's Club will be hosting an open house from 2 until 4 p.m.
Mayor Todd Pearson and the Rockport City Council approved and issued a proclamation at their last meeting declaring the aforementioned.
The proclamation states, “Whereas the Woman's Club of Aransas County is a nonpartisan, nondenominational women's volunteer service organization dedicated to meeting the needs of the community through volunteer service projects.
“Whereas the Woman's Club of Aransas County was founded in 1948 and chartered in the fall of 1949.
“Whereas the Woman's Club of Aransas County founded the Aransas County Library and continues to support it as well as the Aransas County Ambulance Service, AIM Hospice, Project Graduation and the three area volunteer fire departments.
“Whereas the Woman's Club of Aransas County provides scholarships for deserving young graduates of Rockport-Fulton High School.
“Whereas the Woman's Club of Aransas County is celebrating 60 years of service above self, working for the betterment of the community.”
Pearson noted in declaring Woman's Club Aransas County Day “In the City of Rockport and urge all citizens, civic and volunteer groups, and educational associations to join in this salute to the members of this organization who continue to make such a significant contribution to our community.”
The Woman's Club was established in 1948 and its building - a World War II era recreational building for Humble Oil Company - was moved by barge to Rockport from Ingleside.
In addition, as a part of its 60th anniversary, the club, in conjunction with the Aransas County Historical Society (ACHS), collected photographs and other information which relate to the Club's founding and acquisition of its historic clubhouse.
The information will be used to prepare a nomination for a Texas State historical marker for the clubhouse.

Instead of presenting this to the scientific world in a peer reviewed journal, these guys publish it in this book in an attempt to sway public opinion. I could go on as many of the statements in this article are misleading, or blatantly ludicrous. Suffice it to say, it looks to me like this book is much more about influencing public opinion than any scientific review of whether human activity is causing climate change.
It is sad some people will believe this as fact. "
