Construction continues in the Aransas County Independent School on both the new tennis courts as well as the renovation project between the field house dressing room and weight training facility.

ACISD Operations Director Preston Adams said the tennis court project is actually running ahead of schedule.

The concrete slab for the courts has been poured, with the exception of the area between the middle courts. He said the contractor has to place the electrical lines which will be needed for the lights, etc.

The project schedule indicates the fencing was to be put in place the week of Oct. 15-31, but fence post work has already begun.

The two-coated court surfaces as well as the striping for those courts is scheduled to be laid down the first week of November.

The entire project should be done by mid-November, weather permitting, Adams said.

The renovation project between the field house dressing room and weight training facility also has started. The slab has been poured and the metal skeleton of the structure is in place, Adams said.

Next week the contractor will begin constructing the metal skin on the outside.

The building will house restrooms for the dressing room and weight room as well as feature an equipment storage room, Adams said.

A walkthrough of the facility is expected to be conducted the first part of January, with a final completion date of mid-January, weather permitting, he explained.
