Obituaries for October 1, 2008
Joshua Walter Jones, 41, passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008. He was born May 28, 1967 in Aransas Pass. He was a lifelong resident of Fulton and attended Fulton Community Church. He enlisted in the Navy during the Gulf War and served four years in the Navy Reserve.
He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Jones Jr.; and one brother, Barkley Jones. He is survived by his mother, Allena B. Jones of Fulton; one brother, Forrest (Janet) Jones III of Hamshire; two sisters, Camille Jones of Groves, and Belle Jones of Port Arthur; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, numerous friends and co-workers.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 30 at Fulton Community Church with Rev. Richard Giller officiating. Interment followed at the Rockport Cemetery.
Dorothy Mae “Dotti” Rhodes, age 86, of Rockport, passed away Sept. 23, 2008. Dotti was born to the late Frank Patrick and the late Willie Mae Patrick on March 4, 1922 in Mound Valley, Kansas. She married W. Clyde Rhodes Jr. on January 27, 1971 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
Dotti was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport. She was an accomplished seamstress and artist and was a wonderful cook and loved cooking for her family and entertaining her family. She played Mah Jongg, Bridge, and other card games; she loved the coast and had traveled in Mexico extensively. After Clyde and Dotti married, they traveled along the Baja Peninsula of Mexico; camping and spending time with each other and friends. While traveling in Mexico they decided to build a house and live in the beautiful seaside village of Rincon de Guayabitos, Nayarit, Mexico, where they resided for 15 years. After living in Mexico they returned to Rockport.
Dotti is survived by her beloved husband, Clyde of Rockport; her son, W. Clyde “Dusty” Rhodes III and his wife Darlene of Rockport; her daughters, Diane Smith of Rockport and Dawn Shockome of Las Vegas, Nevada; her sisters, Frances Hicks of San Antonio and Virginia Bartlett of California. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Lance Rhodes, Krista Wegener, Jennifer Smith, Aimee Smith, Joseph Shockome, and Catherine Shockome; four great grandchildren, Hannah May Rhodes, Connor Wegener, Carson Wegener, and Kinzie Bea Richey. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including one special nephew, Dennis Hicks of San Antonio.
Dotti was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Betty Lee; and her son-in-law, James D. “Jimmy” Smith.
A Rosary was recited at 10 AM, Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport. A funeral Mass followed the Rosary. Rev. Msgr. Louis F. Kihneman, III officiated. A graveside service was held at 3:30 PM, Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the Karnes City Cemetery in Karnes City. The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Aim Hospice, P.O.
