Letters to the Editor
Dear Editor:
I thank the local management of HEB for the consistency of their gas prices during the evacuations. It was a welcome relief for those of us trying to fill up.
It was nice having consideration for us during this crisis, unlike the City of Rockport, which caused a lot of inconvenience to the remaining residents in town, such as removing gas meters without notification to anyone. The emergency phone service still has its own set of problems which need work.
For those who did remain, we did have trash pick up but there were no announcements on our local radio station. The city's communication with some of the businesses in town was poor. I'm afraid the ramifications from this will be felt at the polls in the next election

Dear Editor:
Thank you Sue Morton for her letter of Sept. 17. We come to your great city four times per year and wonder the same thoughts. We love Rockport.

Dear Editor:
When I moved back in August I was looking for a great place to eat, somewhere a family of six could eat inexpensively. I drove to Corpus, but the truth is there is a great place here in Rockport. We give back to our community and save gas by staying here. With gas prices the way they are and our economy going downhill, why not keep your money local and let people in our town succeed.
Every penny this town gets will help it grow. Why support other communities when we have everything here, restaurants, parks, grocery stores, a lumber yard, and appliance repair?
The City of Rockport has done a lot for this community. We have great roads, parks, aquatic center, library, etc., so let's give something back. Kudos to those who keep it local, and to the hard-working people of our community.

Dear Editor:
My hat is off to you, Mike Probst, you fearlessly continue to include references to God, the Bible and prayer in your paper. We appreciate your faithfulness to your God-given convictions. We like your headline “We need all the prayers we can get,” and your front page coverage and large picture of “See you at the pole.”
We support you fully and appreciate our little hometown paper. Keep up the good work.

Dear Editor:
After reading the letter from David Barrows, I am touched by his feelings of inferiority as a victim of the elite, whoever they are, or seem to be. Evidently Sarah Palin is one of those elite who are bent on further deceit, favoritism, bad-mouthing, empty promises, and a large family so common to American values and motherhood.
Sadly, the victims of such treatment suffer from a divided personality disorder whereby one profits and flourishes in the fruits of this great nation, while the other seeks frantically to destroy it. In the perpetually downtrodden the destroyer gains the upper hand, resulting in diminished reasoning and delusion, reinforced by common associations.
That brings us to discussion of the master promulgator of change, to the very mouth of “the Messiah,” Barrack Hussein Obama. He stands for race-powered Socialism washed in the filth of his Reverend Wright's hate-America; he is backed by Hamas and influenced by 20 years' association with Father Pfleger, mob boss Daley's Chicago Mafia, Nation of Islam leader Louis Farakhan, criminal friend Tony Rezko, global gun banners, Saul Alinsky's glorification of Satan power, admitted terrorist Bill Ayers, and fellow birds of a feather radicals, all financed by fellow sufferer George Soros, and his left-wing trash who enjoy the fruits of this great nation which they openly despise. What kind of change can be expected from the likes of these if allowed to move into our White House?
My, my, the powers attributed to George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Palin, and John McCain must be truly supernatural to have such influence and dominion over so many poor victims of the elite. The only consolation I can offer at this point is we elite do fully intend to preserve our nation and defend the powers given to us by our unabridged Constitution and Bill of Rights.
We the people, families, neighbors, and friends will continue to cling to our religion and our guns, for we are bitten gun-owners and we also vote. Read my bumper sticker: Fight Birth Defects, Sterilize Liberals.

Dear Editor:
I want the students in Aransas County to know how it blessed me to see them standing around the flagpole for prayer. I have a grandson who goes to school in Rockport and I lived there for 28 years. Although I now live in Tennessee, I still have family and dear friends there.
I have The Rockport Pilot website bookmarked and when I saw the kids at the school holding hands and praying, I just have to say how proud Aransas County can be of them. There is no better way to start a day than prayer. God Bless each of you.
