Capital murder charges filed in infant's death

The Rockport Police Department has filed capital murder charges against Justin Paul Guidry, 17, of Sunset, LA in connection with the death of a two-month-old infant.
RPD officers were contacted by social workers from Driscoll Children's Hospital about a two-month-old infant who had been admitted with life threatening injuries that day, Wednesday Sept. 3, at approximately 3 p.m.
The child was suffering from head trauma and multiple bruises over his body, social workers reported. Detectives arrived at the hospital and interviewed the child's mother as well as other individuals involved.
The investigation led the officers to Guidry, a friend of the infant's mother. Guidry had apparently been staying at the mother's residence.
RPD detectives reported as a result of the investigation, Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Martin DeLeon issued a warrant for Guidry for injury to a child. He was arrested at approximately 7:30 p.m. that same day.
On Saturday Sept. 6, the infant died as a result of the injuries he sustained.
DeLeon then issued a second warrant for Guidry, for capital murder. Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams set Guidry's bond at $1 million.
A complaint charging Guidry with capital murder was filed with the district attorney's office Monday, Sept. 8.
Detectives noted the case is still under investigation and additional charges and arrests may be pending.
