City buys natural gas company

The City of Rockport officially closed the deal May 30 on its purchase of Aransas Natural Gas (ANG). The purchase price was $2,129,200, but after closing cost adjustments, the cost is $2,067,205.
At its April 8 meeting the council approved a term sheet as a letter of intent to purchase ANG. The City began natural gas operations at 12:01 a.m. May 31.
