CANNON

Bruce Everett Cannon, Jr., 72, enjoyed a full and active life. He began his journey to his Lord on Sunday, March 30th, 2008 in Rockport, TX.

Born in Anchorage, AK to Bruce and Margery Cannon, Bruce attended Anchorage High. He was a graduate of Washington State University with a degree in Civil Engineering and achieving recognition as a member of Tau Beta Pi (engineering honor society). Bruce earned a masters degree in Public Administration from American University in Washington D.C. Bruce was also a career member of the Federal Government Senior Executive Service achieving the rank of SES-4.

His mother, Margery and brother, Michael, preceded him in death. Bruce's first love was family. He is survived by his father Bruce, Sr., sister Anne and aunt Ruth. Bruce will be greatly missed by his wife of 45 years, Toni; son, Bruce Fayette (Denise) Cannon; three daughters, Jennifer (Warren) Michelsen, Amy (Bruce) Lahey and Julie (Steven) King. Bruce was blessed with seven wonderful grandchildren and one great-grandchild. While Bruce will be greatly missed, his love, good nature and compassion will live on in the hearts of his family and his two special friends of 66 years, Johnny Grames and Frank Putzel.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home Chapel, Rockport followed by a celebration of life reception at Bruce's home, 617 N. Magnolia St.


In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be sent to VistaCare Hospice, 4320 SPID, Ste. B, Corpus Christi TX 78411.

FLIRT


Scott R. Flirt, 35, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008.

He is survived by his wife, Veronica Flirt of Rockport; one son, Jacob Flirt of Rockport; his parents, Archie Flirt Sr. and Ruth Flirt of Aransas Pass; two brothers, Archie Flirt Jr. of Vale, OR, and David Flirt of Las Vegas, NV; and one sister, Ruth Ellen Bonneau of Houston.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Aransas Pass. Internment followed at Prairie View Cemetery in Aransas Pass.

KOPPLOW


Carol Glascock Kopplow, age 61, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 31, 2008 surrounded by loving family.

Carol, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend was born September 19, 1946 in San Antonio to Elizabeth and Charles Glascock. She graduated from Incarnate Word High School, attended the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Delta Gamma, and graduated from Trinity University with a degree in childhood education. She worked as a kindergarten teacher where she was adored by all. Carol's life was devoted to her family and friends. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, The Charity Ball Association, Laurel Heights Garden Club, The Junior League of San Antonio, The San Antonio Country Club, The Argyle, Los Festivos, Fenwick and Cancer Center Council where she served as a board member for several years. Her “healing garden” was her vacation home of 25 years in Rockport, TX where she, her family and friends spent countless weekends and summers making lifelong memories. Carol's true gift was always to make others feel wonderful about themselves. Her honesty, loyalty, and spunk made her a treasure to those she met. Carol's 15 year battle with lung cancer was fought with courage, remarkable strength, faith, and grace. She will be missed by many.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Edward K. Kopplow; daughter, Carrie Kopplow Green and husband, Thomas M. Green; son, Edward K. Kopplow Jr.; granddaughters, Caroline, Katherine and Elizabeth Green; brother, James W. Glascock and wife, Amber and daughter, Nora; brother-in-law, Kenneth C. Kopplow and wife, Beth and son, Reed.

The family would like to thank Dr. Doug Yee, Dr. Anthony Tolcher and the staff of the START clinic, especially “Buddy” for their kindness and care through the years.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 510 Belknap Place, San Antonio, TX. The Rev. John Barrett will officiate. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.

Annie Lucille Cowan Orn passed away on Sunday, March 30 at the age of 89. She was born in Pilot Knob, TX on October 26, 1918 to Robert P. Cowan and Nettie Hamilton Cowan, and was the second of nine children.

Lucille was a housewife before later serving 18 years in the cafeteria at Berkman Elementary in Round Rock, where she was lovingly referred to as “Shorty” by students, faculty and co-workers. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always had a zest for life, and enjoyed cooking, gardening and crafts. Lucille and Pete were members of the Round Rock Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Roland “Pete” Orn; four brothers: Chester, Jimmie, Sammie, and John Cowan; and one sister, Margaret Luersen. She and Pete were married in 1951, and were blessed with a daughter, Linda.

She is survived by her daughter Linda and her husband Wayne Johnson, and granddaughter Trisha and her husband Doug Campbell. She is also survived by her brothers Alfred “Pro” Cowan, L.B. Cowan and his wife Shirley, and sister, Mary Hodnett, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Doug Campbell, Donnie Cowan, Wayne Johnson, Al Johnson, Ben Orn and David Trueper. Honorary pallbearers include Alfred Cowan, L.B. Cowan, Chuck Maddox, Lambert Peterson and Isedor Wallin.

Visitation as held Tuesday, April 1 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 2 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Gulf Pointe Plaza in Rockport, TX for the excellent care they provided. Also, a special thanks to Harbor Hospice for their services.
